Rabbi Ranon Teller: Connecting Jewish Tradition and Music

Rabbi Ranon Teller is a Houston-based rabbi whose career combines Jewish scholarship, creative expression, and community service. Raised in an Orthodox Jewish family near Detroit, he studied in Chicago and Israel before exploring television writing and blues music. His renewed interest in Jewish spirituality led him to pursue rabbinical studies at the University of Judaism in Los Angeles, where he received his ordination in 2002.

As senior rabbi of Congregation Brith Shalom since 2005, Rabbi Teller has introduced innovative musical services, strengthened congregational engagement, and supported major synagogue development projects. His leadership extends to charitable partnerships with organizations such as the Houston Food Bank and SEARCH Homeless Services. He has also contributed articles to Jewish publications and co-authored Peaceful Bones. Outside his professional responsibilities, he enjoys playing guitar, exploring nature, reading biographies, and spending time with his family.
